The philosophy that drives our product development
We strive to create software that enhances the learning process for all participants: students, teachers, parents, and administrators. The ideals listed below help guide our thinking as we develop software.
- The most important moments in education occur during the face to face interactions between teachers and students.
- Communication drives learning; the better the quality and tenor of student/teacher/parent/administrator communication, the better the educational experience.
- Time is a teacher's most valuable resource. We design our software to:
- streamline the class preparation and the bookkeeping necessary to run a classroom smoothly; and
- clarify and streamline communication between teachers and students.
- When a teacher plans a great lesson, it should be simple to store and archive that lesson for use in future classes. It should also be simple to distribute that lesson to students, colleagues, parents, or supervisors.
- When a teacher comments on a student's work, it should be simple for both the student and the teacher to access past work and comments for use in:
- portfolio-based assessment,
- student/teacher and parent/teacher conferences, and
- narrative grade reports
When you do it right, you should only have to do it right once.
- Teachers are professionals. As professionals, teachers deserve tools designed specifically with their needs in mind.
We want to create tools that free teachers to devote as much time as possible to the personal interactions where quality learning occurs.
