Using Blogs (and Taxonomy) for portfolios

Earlier in this post, I mentioned the inclusion of the Portfolio term in the Course Calendar vocabulary. At first glance, this makes no sense. However, I set up this structure because I wanted a specific place for students to post their portfolios. Really, the Portfolio term could be included in the Types of Posts vocabulary; I chose this method to emphasize the summary nature of a portfolio. Work contained within a portfolio represents a scope of work across time.

To create a portfolio on this site, students should create a blog post and tag it with the Portfolio term. The body of the post should include links to other posts within the site, and why those posts merit inclusion within the portfolio. The blog posts within the Portfolio term function as a collection point for students' work in the course.
